Saturday 10th March Ben Challum (3354'')
Leader: Glip
Party: Robbie Mochrie and David Smallman
Report
Glip, Robbie Mochrie and David Smallman, set off on a dull day with high cloud, but no rain or snow. The wind was light and cool. Clouds lowered to the summits in the mid afternoon, but it remained dry.
We followed the track to Auchtertyre and then went under the viaduct and climbed the hill north eastwards. It was a straightforward slog with a few snow patches here and there, but nothing to slow us up. At 2200’, the slope steepened and became more interesting with some fun snow slopes.
We had lunch at the south top before crossing over to Ben Challum proper. The slopes to the east and north were dramatic and heavily laden with damp snow. We descended the east coire, but the snow was too mushy to slide on unfortunately.
During the long walkout, we yattered on about schools generally and slamming the Academy’s attitude to rugby in particular.
