Report

A mass of people! This was the largest group of the year but fortunately we had plenty of leaders, cars and minibus.*

We all met up at the Rest and be Thankful car park with Glip arriving first, much to his surprise.

Once the minibus and other cars had arrived, we split the party into various groups. Andy and Wendy took one group. Monty, Ally, Christian and Chris took two groups between them and Rivet also took a group I think.

On the way up, we did some rock scrambling through the 'crack' then explored the rock fall and the cave.**

At lunch, G. Pearson threw Hamish away much to the delight of the 85th since the memory was fresh of Glip throwing the 85th mascot out the minibus window.

We descended to Lochgoilhead, while Andy Yarr returned the way we had come up with somebody else for the vehicles.

Wendy fell at the very end and hurt her leg which was unfortunate since Andy had been coaxing her all the way up.

After the rest of the cars had been retrieved, we made tea with Euan and Andrew Allan of the 85th proving the best workers. The 70th Scouts proved less willing workers, sad to say.

In the evening, the 85th took part in a board gme while the 70th wandered about doing their own thing.

Subsequent notes

*The weekend was identified in the log as a Lochgoilhead weekend so it it is probable that we stayed overnight on Saturday night at the Lochgoilhead Scout centre - presumably indoors

** There are several rocky features worth exploring on the Ben Donich ascent. The crack is on the route up. The rock fall and cave are to be found down the slope from the little saddle on the ridge to the right just after a short rocky scrambly descent.
