Log book entry from 70th R & I Expedition Log - Everest Challenge

Sunday 22nd July      Ben Vorlich (3231’)

Leaders: Chris Foster, John Hennessey, Glip

Scouts: Graeme Wright, Andrew Davies, Kevin Byng

Weather:  Sunny and warm. Light wind at the top.

Report

It was a much better day on Sunday compared to Saturday, being sunny and warm. It was a pleasant climb and it was relatively straightforward to reach the top. The view of Stuc a’ Chroin and Loch Earn was impressive. We took some photographs then descended a bit for lunch. Minor water fight developed at lunchtime when Kevin was very daring and sprinkled John and Chris. Of course, he had to suffer the consequences.

Further down, we spent a while at a stream before continuing to the cars. We then returned to Killin to pick up the hikers. The leaders visited a coffee shop whereupon the Scouts stared in through the window and laughed.

During the Killin weekend, Andrew Davies and Chris Foster gained their Everest award, while Graham Wright reached the Nevis stage.
