Report
We drove up in the minibus on a splendid morning without a puff of wind and arrived at Rannoch Moore just as the early morning mists were dispersing from the tops. The lochains were like mirrors and several Scouts shouted on Glip to take photos, which, in hindsight, he should have done, but one tends to get into a groove when driving. Glip stopped eventually for a photo of Buachaille Etive Mor, but the picture of mountains reflected in lochs was missed for ever. Sob!
We parked the minibus in Glencoe and started to get ready. Peasant did not feel well and opted to sleep in the bus.
We climbed up by the ‘Lost Valley’ route, teasing Jobby about his skinhead haircut. At the saddle, we turned east to go up Stob Coire Sgreamhach (3497’) first, then crossed over to Bidean nam Bian (3497’). We also went out to the far west end of the ridge for a view of the bridge and westwards.
Everyone was keen to capture more funny wee things and it was such a glorious day that we crossed over to climb Stob Coire nan Lochain (3655’).
It was then a case of descending the East ridge and contouring south across the scree slopes into the lost valley. We did this in little groups making sure nobody ended up below another group.
By the time we reached the minibus, it was getting close to dark and Peasant had got all worried.
Unfortunately, there are no records in the log of any youth hostel antics in the evening, although there were sure to have been some.
