Report
We woke to find that all the Scouts’ flysheets had been turned back to front except Merry’s (who had a door at both ends). Frodo came over and accused Glip of doing this dastardly deed! In fact, it was Kerr, Mochrie, Boag and Grant who were responsible.
As we were making breakfast, there was a massive explosion and everyone immediately thought of Merry. It was! Merry had invented his alarm clock – frying an aerosol can. Guy stayed in camp with Jim Blair to watch over those Scouts staying in camp today.
The group climbing today were Roderick, Derek, Booboo, Richard, Adrian, and Jobby. Glip took Booboo, Roderick, Dick and Derek ahead while Tommy took the others. We paused at the false summit to allow the others to catch up, before going on to the summit which was in cloud by the time we got there. The weather deteriorated over lunch and Glip decided to take most of the Scouts straight down the east shoulder. Richard and Derek, however, opted to follow the other leaders to Mullach nan Coirean.
Glip's group was down first and, after watching a Loch Eil group doing ravine crossings, they went back to camp. Glip took Rivet, who had been camp bound, back along the road for his lift, picking up Richard, Derek, Tommy, John etc en route.
We struck camp and left, stopping at the restaurant beyond Glencoe for a snack. The minibus failed to start and we spent 20 minutes on it before Booboo and Merry discovered a battery lead had come loose.
A speedy drive home made up some time and so we were not too far behind Mr Blair to Greenock.
