APLs:  David Eadie, Robbie Mochrie

Scouts: Andrew Wilson,  Graham Bolster, Andrew Davies, Kevin Byng

Weather:

Dry with light west to west north-west winds. Sunny.

 Report

We left the campsite rather late having some problems packing up. En route however, the trailer threw away Kevin Byng’s sleeping bag. It was recovered after a visit to the Police Station. We then drove to the foot of the hill at speed, parked at a caravan site at …………. And set off. The time it was 1 PM.

At first, the climb was a fairly steep one on rough pasture interspersed with rock. The weather was extremely sunny. Soon we were stripped to our waists. At about 1200’, the route followed a fence to 1400’. We then took a moderately steep climb to a spot height at 2033’. From there, there was a gentle climb to the peak and we soon reached the top at 2:31 PM. Here, we had lunch. During this meal, we had some Coke, which made us all burp. Finally, we were down the hill by 3:25 PM. After a quick toast and photograph session, we left for home.

Note: At this stage the maximum possible height that Everesters could have achieved is 16,817.  The highest height achieved so far is 14,392’ by APL David Eadie (Stag patrol), 1st Scout Andrew Wilson (Eagle Patrol). And 2nd scout Graham Bolster (Eagle Patrol).

David Eadie, Andrew Wilson, and Graham Bolster all reached the Eiger stage of the challenge during this weekend.
